SummaryAbout the Position: This position is located in the Office of the Garrison Commander, Directorate of Public Works, IMCOM, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, CA. Fort Irwin is a world class training center for America's Soldiers, known for its excellent desert training and vast recreational opportunities.ResponsibilitiesConduct studies of special projects to ascertain or to verify the most effective economical method of construction.Analyze and evaluate facility design materials and operation methods to eliminate potential problem areas.Review all facets of projects, which include modifications, alterations, additions, repairs to buildings and other construction, electrical systems, heating systems, air-conditioning, plumbing and refrigeration systems.Coordinate projects to be accomplished with building/facility occupants.Advise occupants of necessary actions to prepare for project start.Resolve any problems arising during work phase.Evaluate contractor performance in accordance with the provisions of the contract.Ensure quality and timely work performance is provided by contractor.Evaluate performance against contractual requirements.Identify actual and potential slippage in contract schedules.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes surveillance of projects to determine redesign or modification is required to correct facility deficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Two year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
