Sr. Accountant

DescriptionRobert Half Management Resources is actively recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant for a city governmental agency in Ventura County. This is an in-house position to run for a minimum of 4 months with the potential for a longer engagement. They are operating in accordance with PPE. You will be supporting a system migration, will be working with a large team and reporting to the Accounting Manager. There will also be overlap/training and a supervisor to answer any questions.RESPONSIBILITIES Take ownership of capital assets, leases and debt accounts Record financial transactions and complete the period-end reporting packages Create accrual transactions for year-end financials Review and/or perform account reconciliationsCORE COMPETENCIES Good oral and written communications skills – Must have the ability to work independently in a very busy environment Keen understanding between Cash and GAAP Accounting Has a roll up your sleeves mentality and approach to the job; someone who is willing to do the legworkRequirements

BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are highly desired

Familiar with governmental and/or Non-profit accounting

Familiar with fund accounting

Strong with Excel – Must know pivot tables and v-lookup functions

Demonstrated knowledge of Accrual Accounting

Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
