A metal fabricator for Kiva Lighting and Fabrication LLC is to build high-quality metal lighting fixtures and components for our astounding customers. As a metal fabricator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting job reports (sale receipts), fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products. You may also be required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates.

To ensure success as a metal fabricator, you should have some knowledge of manufacturing metalwork, a good eye for detail, and be able to read a tape measure. Ultimately, a sheetmetal fabricator that constructs high-quality products to exact specifications consistently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reading and interpreting job reports

- Constructing base templates if necessary

- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines

- Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, plasma and/or torch cutters, brakes, and shears

- Double-checking design specifications before commencing with fabrication

- Double-checking design specifications before rolling and bending

- Operate fabricating machines such as rollers,benders, brakes, mechanical & electrical, spot welder, sander, cold cut saw, plasma and/or torch cutting

- Listen to directions from supervisors

- Fabricating and constructing metal components

- Grinding and finishing products

- Performing quality checks on completed work

- Conforming with state and company safety regulations

- Completing job reports within production lead time

- Ensures the supply of all parts are available

- Read and interpret blueprints and sketches

- Read parts lists

- Assemble tools and materials

- Positions parts and subassemblies

- Interpret measurements

- Hammer, grind, and chip workpieces

- Verify specifications

- Ensure all parts are fitted and screwed in properly

- Alter dimensions to fit specifications

- Resolve assembly and production issues

- Complete preventive maintenance

- Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed

- Ensure the working environment is clean and safe

Requirements:

- Good eyesight

- Strong reading and math skills

- Good communication skills are a must

- Strong problem-solving skills

- Knowledge of proper PPE (personal protective equipment)

- Previous work experience as a metal fabricator and welding

- Knowledge of manufacturing procedures

- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, plasma and/or torch cutters, and drill presses

- Read a tape measure

- Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects

- to stand for long periods
