We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARYJT4 is seeking an Interpreter to assist with Japanese to English to Japanese language interpretation across a range of activities. The Interpreter will provide interpretation services during various processes, and conduct translations of documents. Provide accurate concepts and explanations with no additions or omissions, according to conventions of established interpretation protocol. Process and impart information swiftly, and relay intentions, emotions and tone in your interpretations.Interpreter Responsibilities Essential Functions and Duties

Act as Interpreter between a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos, nuances and personalities.

Provide parties with clear and exact translations of written materials, and interpretations of verbal communication.

Provide interpretations of questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations and other forms of verbal communication.

Impart thought, purpose, spirit, emotions and tone of speakers from source language into target language.

Interpret with no additions or omissions.

Inform relevant parties of factors that may hinder your performance.

Comply with applicable ethics and standards.

Interpreter Requirements:

Excellent command of and the ability to provide concise interpretation of both English and Japanese language.

Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Outstanding listening, retention and note-taking skills.

Proficient enunciation and pronunciation skills and pleasant, professional voice.

Proficient understanding of cultural sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Identify terms and words with conflicting meanings to determine which alternative provides clarity and reflects the original purpose of the message.

Verify, modify and edit translations to compensate for discrepancies in technical terms and to guarantee that the final content is consistent with original material.

Consult dictionaries, encyclopedias and terminology compilations to remain educated and current with the meaning of words and phrases.

Analyze audience members and listen to debriefings on what materials will be translated, to best assess how to present interpreted data.

Document changes to translated materials, and maintain an orderly method for filing data for reference later on.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possess a Secret or Top Secret security clearance

Previous experience working at Point Mugu supporting the JTECH II Contract

Possess outstanding problem-solving skills, and the ability to work to a high level of accuracy

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCELevel I: Associates degree in English, Journalism or related discipline, or completion of equivalent academic training and at least one year of job-related experience.Level II: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or related discipline and at least 3 years of job-related experience or equivalent work experience and training.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel. Incumbent must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain a current Security Clearance.Skills/abilities:

Fluency in relevant foreign language(s)

Ability to read and write

Foreign language(s) written translation skills

Listening skills.

Proficient in MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point

Proficient in Adobe form generation and modification

Motivated and a self-starter

It is known for its Mediterranean climate and its status as a protected wetland. Point Mugu is a part of a beach Community along the original Pacific Coast Highway (U.S. 101). The inhabited portion of Ventura County also includes numerous towns including Oxnard, Camarillo, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Fillmore, Ojai and Santa Paula. All within a 25-minute commute of Point Mugu. Aside from its beaches, the area is a mix of agriculture, small industry, and residential areas. The weather is mild pretty much year-round, offering a comfortable climate with an added dose of sunshine. When the graceful grey whale makes its annual migration from Mexico's warm waters to the Arctic seas, Ventura County is one of the best locations for whale watching in the country. You'll find some of California's best surf breaks in Ventura County. Smaller waves breaking pretty much year-round. The base has direct access to good surfing and it's just a short drive to famous breaks like Rincon and Silverstrand. Beaches in Ventura County aren't just white stretches of sand dotted with bright umbrellas and sunbathers. Try any of the many local state beaches, to find great birdwatching, camping, and surfing. There are miles of hiking trails that weave through and around Ventura County. The Channel Islands are the one of the least-visited National Parks in the entire nation, despite being one of the most stunning and ecologically rich.
