Robert Half Finance's new Controller opening will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful Construction/Contractor company. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Fresno, California area. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

Requirements

Excellent oral and written communications skills

Foundational knowledge in financial statement preparation

Month end closings experience

Budget forecasting experience

Adeptness in financial analysis

Expertise in general ledger

Demonstrated knowledge of Job Cost

Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP

Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
