Headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, HII employs more than 42,000 people operating both domestically and internationally.Job DescriptionThis position will support the Combat Systems Product Family in successfully accomplishing its mission to overhaul US Navy SRBOC Launchers in accordance with Formal Work Packages and applicable technical documentation while adhering to technical authority requirements.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesApplies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.Essential job responsibilities include removing, disassembling, overhauling, reassembling, and installing SRBOC launchers in accordance with provided technical references MK 137 MODs 1, 2, and 4 Super Rapid Blooming Off-Board Chaff (SRBOC) Launchers:

Troubleshoot and repair SRBOC launchers.

Conduct electronic operational test before and after final torque of base bolts.

Solder connection wires for SRBOC launchers in accordance with provided system technical manual

Replaces defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.

Assist other technicians in the repair and testing of NULKA, SVTT, and SQQ-32 Hull/Stow Locks

Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.

Understands and follows provided work packages including specified safety procedures and operating procedures.

Provides input and assists with process improvement procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.

Minimum 4 years’ experience in related field

Experience troubleshooting and repair of SRBOC system

Ability to use measuring instruments i.e., micrometers, dial indicators etc.

Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and repair standards

High School education or Trade School + 4 years of related experience.

Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Preferred Requirements

PQS 301 qualified

EW/CT Naval background preferred

Experience maintaining, repairing, and testing one or more of the following systems:

137 MODs 7 and 10 NULKA (Decoy Launching System)

SQQ-32 Hull/Stow Locks

MK 32 Surface Vessel Torpedo Tubes (SVTTs)

Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Noisy conditions Industrial work environment.
