Integrity Verification Engineer/ Program ManagerDescriptionFunctional Expertise:

Develop technical procedures, projects, and engineering designs, by interacting with staff and performing quality reviews to ensure designs meet PHMSA, State, and Company standards

Follow established Asset Development Processes (ADP) to ensure meaningful structure exists to meet departmental and company objectives

Work to establish and organize the detailed historical records pertaining to gas system integrity

Track projects from concept through completion with responsibility for schedule and budget variances

Business Acumen:

Develop permanent records and evaluation processes to an established standard

Design engineering solutions that provide the most efficient and cost effective long term solutions for ongoing issues with the gas distribution system

Follow manager’s guidance for developing roles and responsibilities for department and contractors

Ensure that applicable requirements and standards for reporting are followed

Assure compliance with Company policies & procedures

Identify and properly manage project risk

Engagement:

Collaborate with Construction Management, GIS and Asset Data Services, System Integrity and System Planning leaders to produce effective solutions and designs

Track project metrics to identify project risks

Identify and track scope changes per the Change Management process (e.g. adequately documented, impact analysis, approved, etc.)

Attend regular department and project meetings

Driving Results :

Provide scheduling and budgeting support to ensure that budgeted projects are constructed within budget year

Develop project execution plans

Support departmental O&M goals

Participate in scorecard process for contractors

QualificationsIVP Engineer (Program Manager):Education, Experience, Certifications/Licenses: Level 5Required: BA/BS degree in engineering from ABET accredited university. 4 years of progressive engineering experience in project management, project engineering, or construction management of natural gas or other pipeline facilities. 1 years familiarity and experience with Gas Safety regulations or utility pipeline construction practicesPreferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate Degree in Civil, Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical EngineeringEducation, Experience, Certifications/Licenses: Level 6Required: BA/BS degree in engineering from ABET accredited university. 7 years of progressive engineering experience in project management, project engineering, or construction management of natural gas or other pipeline facilities. 3 years familiarity and experience with Gas Safety regulations or utility pipeline construction practicesPreferred: Professional Engineer Certification (PE), Project Management Certificate (PMP), or Advanced Degree (MBA, MS, MA) Degree in Civil, Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical EngineeringWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements: Exposure to all types of weather Travel: 20% - 25% Keyboarding: 50% Periodic Field Presence at Construction SitesSouthern Company Gas provides for the energy needs of millions of U.S. households and businesses.
