Certified Laboratory Technician

We are looking for a Certified Laboratory Technician - United Steelworkers with the Clinical Laboratory Department at St. Mary Medical Center.Location: Apple Valley, CASchedule: Full timeShift: DayJob Summary:The Certified Laboratory Technician I will perform all phlebotomy procedures according to laboratory protocol in compliance with the requirements set forth in the Federal Register and the State of California Personnel Code of Regulations.Performs various technical specimen collection procedures for the Clinical Lab Department. Performs other duties as assigned.Functions as an assistant in laboratory in the pre-analytical processes. Assists with specimen processing, prepares specimens to outside laboratories ,assist under the direct supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Assist in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, has knowledge of reagent stability and storage, assist in the performance of quality control procedures, and other pre-analytical processes.Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Must possess the ability to accurately read and transcribe English words and numbers

Must have the manual dexterity to manipulate laboratory supplies such as pipettes and specimen tubes

Position Requirements:Education: High school graduate or equivalent and/or required work experienceTraining: A minimum of 40 hours of practical instruction from a phlebotomy training program and have passed a written examination in phlebotomy administered by a certifying organization approved by the department pursuant to Section 1035.1 and Section 1035.7.License / Certification:

Current: California Department of Health Services - Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II License

Renewal: CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician, State of CA). The State of California does require YEARLY Continuing Education in order to maintain this certification

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire
