Job DescriptionProvides support as a member of the Front-End team to include assisting customers during the check-out process, performing all cash register functions, bagging groceries, and working at the customer service desk. Works to maintain attractive customer service displays and support the regional Customer Service vision. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. All positions must strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatory duties required in the department.Job Summary:As a cashier you will hold a lasting impression for our customer’s shopping experience by performing all customer service functions according to established procedures. Your role will include assisting customers during the checkout process, performing all cash register functions, and bag groceries when necessary. Support the Regional Customer Service vision and ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.

Follow proper procedures for customer check out, handling of tenders, use of tares, sales of alcoholic beverages, and use of PLUs and UPCs

Scan product, operate cash register and tally customer purchases.

Walk the produce department to facilitate product identification; be aware of new products and their placement.

Count out and organize till at the end of the shift.

Follow all cash handling procedures; understand, meet and exceed regional Cashier Variance Policy (CVP)

When necessary, bag groceries and gather shopping carts.

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory rules and regulations including Weights and Measures, ABC regulations, FDA. Department of Labor, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices

Sample store products to customers in accordance to Customer Service retailing program.

Successfully complete in store training program.

Participate in regional and national sales promotions.

Keep department supplies filled and maintained; keep the register area clean and well-stocked.

Notify the immediate Supervisor of any errors in retail pricing or signage.

Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment.

Support global, regional and store programs

Answer department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette

Attend all department store and training meetings when scheduled.

Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader / Store Leadership.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Possess some customer service experience.

Cash handling experience preferred (for Cashier and above)

Able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow team members, customers, and vendors.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency.

Strong work ethic and integrity

Ability to sell proactively

Working understanding of and compliance with all Customer Service Security Polices and WFM policies and procedures.

Ability to learn about natural and organic foods and products.

Proper use of equipment, which may include but are not limited to: knives, box cutters, personal protective equipment, hand trucks, six wheel carts, pallet jacks, forklift and baler (must be 18 years of age or older for both) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store.

Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.

Constant Interruptions

Some exposure to dust, fumes and chemicals.

May be exposed to extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness

May walk and work on uneven surfaces

May need to use a ladder or stool to reach product or supplies.

Exposure to continuous background and occasional loud noises.

Any item over 40 pounds requires a team lift.
