Principal Process Engineer

Lead assigned phases (based on role) of projects which includes concept development, basic engineering, prototyping, detailedengineering and design, procurement, construction, start-up, testing,deployment and sustainment of automated systems;

Partner with other engineering disciplines, customers and vendors/suppliers to create technical strategies and identify projectopportunities;

Follow Bayer and industry best practices;

Plan and direct team in engineering tasks to ensure all projectobjectives including safety, technical correctness, budget,constructability, schedule, maintainability and operability are met;

Develop system architectures and technical strategies within platform;

Identify opportunities and develop solutions for automating nurseryoperations and process efficiency in close collaboration with 30 globalnursery sites and technical platform partners to improve R&D seedproduction and product development across five crops to deploy products in over 40 countries through technology in field, lab, shade house and screen house operations including seed preparation, planting, field plot management, data collection, harvesting, seed processing and environmental controls;

Develop project plans, deliver return on investment (ROI) and strategic recommendations;

Drive teams to utilize process data to inform on opportunity areas forefficiency, design and support process improvement capabilities to drive operational excellence in site operations;

Collaborate with technical platform partners in aligning projectpriorities with technical resources;

Use these relationships to co-create new ways of solving operational challenges across our global nursery sites;

Play a critical role in bridging between nursery operations and thetechnical expertise of data scientists, automation and softwareengineers;

Ensure the insights generated through sophisticated analytics translate into business impact;

Lead PI&O ptimization project activities and reliability improvementprojects and collaborating with local operations teams and automation platform design teams to identify, develop, implement, and test equipment and software improvements;

Develop project review materials to communicate progress, roadblocks and opportunities against the project plan;

Drive alignment on remediations;

Communicate to key stakeholders to drive one source oftruth for status;

Lead multi-function teams globally to support innovation projects forPrecision Breeding, with a key focus on driving nursery technicaloperations and process optimization supporting improvements of genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology development and deployment.

B.S. with at least eight years of industry experience OR M.S. with at least six years of industry experience OR Ph.D. with at least four years of industry experience (All degrees in engineering or science such as Process, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Agricultural, Computer, Computer Science, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial, Information Systems or related field with strong interest in automation);

Significant and extensive experience in one or more of, processengineering, automation design, machine design, test engineering,agricultural engineering, automation support, project engineering orequivalent experience;

Be able to lead a cross-functional team and prioritize multipleprojects and requirements simultaneously with competing businessneeds/impacts across multiple customer groups;

Expert knowledge of relevant software and hardware tools;

Excellent knowledge of process control strategies and systems;

Excellent communication, project management, influential leadershipskills;

Able to steer a cross-functional team to deliver results in fast paced, multi-cultural environment;

Excellent knowledge of and experience demonstrating project controlskills including project planning, scheduling, cost control and requirements development;

Be able to travel 25% of the time;

High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness.

Preferred Qualifications:

Domain expertise of nursery operations and/or breeding workflows;

Secondary language (Spanish, Portuguese).
