- Under general supervision, applies project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in supporting project leads. Drives the development and application of project management methodology and culture.
- The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) protects the public by operating safe and secure facilities through the development of professional staff and effective offender management.
- GDC is seeking a project manager to coordinate and complete projects within the Information Technology Department.
- This position will be primarily remote with a minimum of 2 days onsite at GDC's downtown office (7 MLK Jr Drive, Suite 543 Atlanta, 30334) and/or onsite at one of the state correctional facilities. Note: the 2-day onsite requirement may change to less as other GDC project locations will take precedence.
- Once hired, the first day onboarding process will take place at the city of Forsythe location. Therefore, local candidates only.

- Primary duties will be to manage all aspects of technical projects following PMI best practices and the Georgia Department of Corrections Project Management Methodology.
- Successful candidates will be accomplished project managers who have directed and successfully managed, from start to finish, complex, technology projects with aggressive timelines.
- The successful candidate will be expected to provide guidance and expertise in business analysis techniques and to participate in the development of related work products.
- Knowledge and experience in full Systems Development Life Cycle and Testing Methodologies is required.
- Project Management Certification (PMP) or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is a plus.
- 4+ years of IT project management or equivalent team leadership experience in application development and implementation.
- Experience with projects of moderate to high complexity in multiple technologies and functions with all phases of Project Life Cycle.
- Expert in Business Analysis, including facilitation, information gathering, diagramming, and documentation
- with working experience of the complete B/A toolset.
- Expert in MS Project, proficient in MS Office suite, and Visio
- Clear understanding of end-to-end application delivery in a multi-platform environment (client server, web, cloud services).
- Knowledgeable and experienced in the full Systems Development Life Cycle and Testing Methodologies.
- Strong understanding of IT operational processes and familiarity with standards and trends in the industry relative to IT processes. Effective verbal and written communications
- Comfortable in interacting with staff and management, including Executive levels.
- High degree of skill in the development and execution of business and technical presentations.

- Oversees and controls ongoing costs, schedules, resources, scope, and risks. Negotiates and persuades decision makers regarding necessary action steps to achieve the goals and objectives of the project.
- Gathers and documents business and technical requirements.
- Analyzes business processes, conducts interviews, and confers with management to document procedures and determine program's functional requirements
- Determines staffing requirements and forms project teams.

- Ensures that all project team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively.
- Manages conflict resolution within the framework of business and project/program objectives.
- Develops, monitors, and coordinates project activities, such as scheduling, tracking, and reporting; assess the impact of planned changes and builds contingency plans to support the change efforts.
- Overcomes obstacles and resistance to change through the use of complex strategies to promote
- project/program success, such as sharing resources to solve mutual problems across the organization.
- Provides work direction and leadership to assigned projects, including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts.
- Monitors project milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule. Identifies ways to resolve schedule issues. Keeps management aware of the situation.
- Develops strategy and ensures integration of project plans and overall execution.
- Assesses variances from the project plan, gathers metrics, and develops and implements changes as
- necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope and is within time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Provides the team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance. Uses past experiences to identify potential areas of improvement.
- While the intent may be a long-term tenure, this position is subject to annual budget restrictions.
- The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1st.
