LaSante Health Center a FQHC is currently seeking a weekend dynamic and energetic Dental Assistant who will be a key member of the health team. In this role, the Dental Assistant assists the dentist on all modalities of dentistry (operatory, oral surgeon, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry). The assistant also assumes the standards of care related to infection control; all OSHA guidelines & safety are upheld at the station they are assigned and collaboratively works with other team members of the health center.Responsibilities and Duties:Assist with Dental treatments as instructedTake and record dental and medical historiesPrepare exam rooms, instruments; clean treatment areasResponsible for patient flow, keeping treatment rooms neat and organizedInstruct patients in oral hygieneKnowledge of EMRAbility to project a positive, warm and professional image in person and on the phoneStrong organizational and administrative skillsMust be articulate and service-orientedAbility to multi-task, take initiative and anticipate needs of othersReliable and promptWorks well in a team, with humor, enthusiasm, and joyful consideration of others.Exposes, develops and mounts radiographs properly, sets trays & prepares room before accepting or discharging a patientResponsible to sterilize hand pieces, transport instruments for sterilization, I.D. any inoperable equipment, lab workProvide chairside assistance to the dentist, utilizing proper four-handed dentistry procedures and observing universal precautions/protocols and sterile techniquesAssumes the standards of care related to infection control; all OSHA guidelines & safety are upheld at the station they are assignedTakes, exposes, develops and mounts radiographs properly (when applicable)Maintain dental operatory in an organized and clean fashion. Assures that appropriate instruments and supplies are availableAssures patient's comfort while waiting for the dentistCleans instruments and prepares them for sterilizationSterilizes and/or disinfects instruments and hand pieces following guidelines of the dental policies and procedures of the health centerDocuments patient records as dictated by dentistAssists the dentist in filling out charts accurately and processing the patient's forms and recordsDemonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned areaCompliance with health center and departmental policies and proceduresMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma1 year minimum experience of chairside dental assistingNYS Dental Certificate preferred
