Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Systems Design Engineer, Fuel Systems (Level 3) for the Design Center South (DC-South) team that provides enterprise-wide expertise for aerospace design and analysis. DC-South supports both Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) and Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS), primarily in the area of Structural and Mechanical Design and Stress Analysis.In addition, the Design Center also has experience in Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Thermal/Fuel Systems analysis and Flight Test Engineering. The Center has been an integral part of the design for the (BDS) P8-A Poseidon Aircraft and KC-46A Tanker, SLS for NASA, and the (BCA) Commercial 787 Dreamliner, 737-MAX and 777X airplanes. Design Center - South consists of three separate design center locations in Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX and Titusville, FL.Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the development of fuels systems for defense aircraft.
  • Supports the determination of performance requirements and architecture for the system.
  • Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
  • Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
  • Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation.
  • Trains others.
  • Works under general direction.
This position has a hybrid work schedule (3 days on site, 2 days virtual). The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Astronautical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years' experience in fuels systems development
  • 1+ year of supplier coordination experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in the development of models to predict fuel system performance
  • Proficient in Siemens NX 3D CAD modeling tools
  • Fluent in applying 3D Model Based Definition principles as part of the design process.
  • Experience using product data management tools. Teamcenter experience preferred.
Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
