Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs and working closely with the faculty and administrative leadership of the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS), this position is responsible for all programmatic activities that support the vibrant academic experiences of our students as well as foster a sense of communal engagement and belonging for all CDS constituents. To that end, the Events & Programs Manager leads in planning and implementing high-profile events and programs that are critical to student recruitment, retention, career advancement, and community engagement. This person will develop and manage CDS’s seminal annual functions such as undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, admission, and orientation events, open houses, career days, and commencement exercises. They will also manage ad hoc requests from CDS faculty, students, and University offices supporting student-centric programs and events and serve as the functional expert on event management for the CDS administrative team. General Responsibilities: Develop processes and systems for student affairs and event management at CDS, and provide insight and expertise on event planning and execution as needed

Ensure seamless and consistent support for events and activities across all programs in CDS, beyond those within the portfolio for the position

Ensure events are coordinated and aligned with the CDS vision and objectives, while managing expectations and ensuring deadlines are met

Oversee student employees and collaborate with personnel in CDS and in cognate units to secure proper support for events and activities

Manage and communicate a central calendar for the CDS Center by working and coordinating with the appropriate administrative offices of collaborating departments

Serve as liaison across departments, creating and maintaining useful relationships to ensure integration with the BU community

Required SkillsBachelor's Degree and 5-8 years of experience

Enthusiasm for community building and strategic planning for shaping the future of computing and data sciences and how they are studied

Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds

Track record of proactive engagement with or support of programs aiming to broaden participation of women and members of underrepresented minorities in STEM.
