Seeking a Fire Protection Engineer licensed in California.Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor for Quality Assurance, Fire Protection Engineer is a code and subject matter expert in fire and life safety. This position performs analytical and scientific work to ensure compliance with building code and other statutory requirements; identifies and evaluates conditions of existing fire and life safety systems to compliance with appropriate codes and standards; develops and implements an effective fire and life safety program for JCC owned and managed court facilities; works with individual counties to develop and implement an effective fire and life safety program in county owned and managed court buildings; works with Facilities Operations staff to develop and oversee implementation of a program to satisfy therequirements of annual inspections by the Office of the State Fire Marshal; formulates and recommends measures to eliminate or control fire hazards; promotes programs for the prevention of fire hazards; performs onsite work to confirm code compliance; provides training to internal staff and user groups; reviews plans for new and existing courthouse projects; performs related work as assigned.RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for a comprehensive fire protection program which includes developing, implementing and maintaining effective protocols and procedures for testing and maintenance of fire and life safety systems in court buildings and facilities.

Assists liaison with the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Creates database of lessons learned for new courthouse projects and facility modifications. Writes curriculum for and conducts training of Facilities Services staff on lessons learned from previous projects.

Assist Project Management Teams with Fire and Life Safety compliance

Develops procedure to ensure correct scoping of facility modification projects

Conducts Site Visits and Surveys new and existing projects for compliance to applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Carries out site assessments according to schedules, as needed, interfaces with project management teams as well as all appropriate Municipal, State and Federal agencies to ensure consistent and appropriate code enforcement.

Assists Project Managers with coordination of Fire and Life Safety issues with Construction Manager at Risk during Construction.

Works with Facilities Operations staff to develop and oversee implementation of a program to satisfy the requirements of annual inspections by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy management, or building science, or a directly related field and three (3) years of experience in area of assignment. Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a yearforyear basis.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

Professional Fire Protection Engineer (PE)

Valid driver's license as assigned.
