Req Number 56076Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPlans, implements and evaluates nursing care services. Develops and upgrades staff's knowledge and skills. Develops and participates in simple research studies for the improvement of nursing practice. Serves as a role model for nursing staff through professional and expert clinic nursing practices.Job ResponsibilityIdentifies patient care needs and plans, implements and evaluates nursing care accordingly.

Assesses needs of patients with complex nursing care issues and develops a written care plan with assigned nurse.

Serves as a resource to staff/team members during tour report and as indicated.

Assists staff in documentation and revision of care plan and in identification of nursing diagnosis applicable to the patient.

Guides staff in implementing care plan, in documenting care given, including patients' responses to care, treatment and teaching.

Promotes development of staff toward excellence.

Provides specialty specific orientation following general orientation.

Promotes staff's competencies in specialty by conducting formal teaching sessions, small group and case presentations, on the spot demonstrations.

Provides direct care to selected patients and/or serves as a team leader.

Develops and participates in simple research studies for the improvement of nursing practice.

Plans, initiates and evaluates studies and surveys for the improvement of nursing care.

Assesses the impact of Hospital and nursing policies and routines on patients/families and recommends changes as indicated.

Devises new procedures and/or techniques to accommodate special needs of patients.

Evaluates results of procedural changes on patient care and staff performance.

Works closely with nursing leadership to improve patient care and staff performance.

Collaborates regularly to identify nursing care problems, to plan goals, objectives and programs.

Prepares and submits monthly report of plans, progress and problems.

Assists in evaluating nursing personnel and planning corrective action if indicated.

Performs related duties, as required.

ADA Essential FunctionsJob QualificationBachelor's Degree in Nursing, required. Master's Degree in Nursing or Clinical Specialty, preferred.

Certification in the specialty area, required.

Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.

Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience in a related clinical area.
