If you’re up to the challenge, then take a chance at this rewarding opportunity!The PositionThe Senior Underwriter will be aligned to specific programs within the P&C Programs business unit and will provide essential underwriting support to the overall execution of these programs. The position is accountable for underwriting program referrals from Program Administrators and supporting the execution of key underwriting initiatives. The Program Underwriters are responsible for overall financial performance of the assigned programs, including the underwriting aspects of program execution, including the following:Job ResponsibilitiesPlanning:o Support the development of annual detailed financial budget that includes key metrics that will be measured against budget throughout the yearExecution:o Handle all account referrals from Program Managers underwrite, manage and document according to Client guidelineso Manage all underwriting aspects of program, including guidelines, catastrophe capacity utilization, loss results, audits, referrals and others as necessaryo Provide underwriting leadership to initiatives that address program growth and profit objectivesMeasurement:o Analyze loss data, flow and hit ratios, renewal retention, referral activity and other relevant data to identify underwriting guideline or referral changes that support growth and profit objectiveso Support analysis of key performance indicators for top line and bottom line on regular basis and assess versus budget expectationso Support the development of plans to address opportunities or issues uncovered in analysisPartnering:o Develop strong working relationships with underwriting management and staff for each assigned programo Provide technical underwriting support to Program Administrator underwriting teams (e.g., training) to help improve their business or financial results Required Skills/Experience4-7 years of P&C underwriting experience requiredIndustry specific study and designations (such as CPCU or equivalent) preferredDesired Skills/ExperienceAdvanced oral and written communication skillsSolid understanding of financial statementsStrong customer-service focusAbility to organize and prioritize to meet multiple demands and commitmentsEffective negotiation skillsProficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook EducationBA or BS, ideally with a degree/major in Economics, Business, Finance, or Accounting
