job descriptionProduction Supervisor 2nd ShiftSupervises and coordinates production employees in the fabrication and processing of sheet metal components. Ensure production meets the established schedule and shipments can be made accurately and on-time. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Employee(s)/Group /Department Supervised: Union Hourly Production Employees.Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety requirements. Work with manufacturing engineer on Bill of materials and pattern creation. Identifies continuous improvement opportunities which drive process improvement and cost reduction through out the manufacturing process. Monitors Inventory accuracy daily, supports inventories of raw materials and manufactured items, transacts daily production entries. Overall responsibilities encompass production transaction accuracy and on-time performance of the production area to ensure on time deliveries to our customers.Responsibilities:Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the day to day activities in production and supervision of the staff involved in manufacturing product efficiently and of the highest quality to meet our customers; expectations. The Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring that the department staff has the tools and resources needed to perform the functions of daily production. Monitors Inventory accuracy daily, supports inventories of raw materials and manufactured items, transacts daily production entries. Coordinate all phases of the departments operation to ensure that materials produced meet the customers required specifications and established company standards. Plan and expedite the operations of the department in order to meet production schedules and make the most efficient use of available personnel and equipment. Utilize a work scheduling system that responds to priorities and daily requirements in the department. Refine systems to provide a look ahead capability to streamline throughput and resolve chronic obstacles or delays. Review, analyze, interpret and evaluate production and inspection reports, and recommend corrective action as necessary. Exercise the usual authority of a Supervisor in relation to hiring, training, counseling, employee relations, performance evaluation, promotions, terminations, etc. Initiate cross-training and initial training programs that encompass all aspects of the departments operations to expand and improve coverage and personnel qualifications.Working hours: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PMSkills:Fostering Teamwork; Managing Performance; Building Collaborative Relationships; Customer Orientation; Result Orientation; Personal CredibilityInitiative; Developing Others; Influencing Others AdditionalLean management experience preferred.Experience supervising in a union workplace is a plus, but not required.Education:AssociateExperience:ExperiencedQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary accountability satisfactorily.
