Job Summary
The Truck Driver’s primary function is to drive a tractor trailer combination or dump truck to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from specified locations. The following is a broad overview of the duties and responsibilities:
Transport heavy equipment and materials to and from specified locations
Inspects truck equipment and supplies
Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations
Overall:
Driving Company Equipment
Drives truck to and from destinations.
Positions tie downs and chains around items to secure equipment during transit.
Loads or unloads truck at the proper job site.
Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor.
Time keeping/ keeps time accurately.
Equipment Maintenance
Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, breaks, gas, oil, and water, etc.
Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
Inspects truck for defect before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck conditions to supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Employees are expected to be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
They should also have the sense of understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
They need to demonstrate they have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Pulling permits (state, county, etc.)
Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A CDL certification is required to obtain this position.
Current Medical Card.
Tanker Endorsement (optional, will need to get after hire).
