Job DetailsPackaging Process Engineer Job Function This position will be part of the Technical Operation Department. This role requires in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in semi-solids (creams, ointments, lotions, gels, etc.), liquids, and suspensions products.The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and implements packaging designs (Caps, bottles, Tube, boxes, etc.) that are an integral part of the Product Development process. The Packaging Process Engineer will manage all product development stages, including prototype development, performance testing, product evaluation, scale-up, and specifications, with other internal departments/divisions such as Quality, Analytical, Operations, and Project Management.Packaging Process Engineer Primary ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited toOversee and manage packaging process, including packaging designs, performance testing, tests standards and guidelines for developing packaging solution.Develop and implement packaging process improvement efforts and otherwise troubleshoot existing processes.Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.Manages pilot/trial/first production scale-up packaging processes, including coordination with batching and filling operations.Coordinate and support Pilot Test Runs, Validation Runs, Engineering Runs, and any other requirements as needed.Review planning timelines for new projects as it relates to all Process Engineering services within the operational departmentsWork with production personnel, when required, to determine adjustments, troubleshooting, or corrections to the first few commercial batches.Review pilot defects with Technical and Quality Assurance to establish range boards for production.Documentation of the defined R&D filling and packaging process. Identifying fill lines and equipment needed for commercial scale-up.Support technology transfer of drug product processes, both internally and to external CMO(s).Assist in the management of R&D technical documentation.Perform all other duties as per the company's needs and requirements.Packaging Process Engineer Other ResponsibilitiesDrafting/reviewing/approving Packaging Work Orders, Fill/Packaging Validation Protocols, and other technical documentation.Advising/guiding manufacturing personnel when needed basis.Troubleshooting manufacturing issues, identifying the root cause, and owning resolution and corrective actions.Representing the technical operation division in daily operation meetings and during the client's onsite visit.Collaborating with internal divisions, clients, and vendors for technical operations related activities.Proactively researching/reviewing/implementing new manufacturing process engineering techniques/instrumentations.Packaging Process Engineer Education QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years' experience.Basic knowledge in the pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Packaging Process Engineer Preferred Qualifications+3 years of Process Improvement or Packaging engineering in the Cosmetics or Parametrical IndustryA working knowledge of formula scale-up and manufacturing, filling equipmentExperience in manufacturing pharmaceutical/cosmetic products (semisolid/solution/suspension dosages forms) is an advantage.Familiarity with liquids, suspensions, solutions, and semi-solid pharmaceutical dosage forms.Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical and cosmetic product development/manufacturing.Familiarity in scale-up and technology transfer to pilot/commercial scale.Familiarity with GLP/GMP requirements.Experience with Continuous ImprovementPackaging Process Engineer Required SkillsOrganized, flexible, and capable of adapting to priority changes daily.Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions and cultures and interact with all levels of the organization required.Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook).Excellent scientific writing skills.Strong time management skills.Strong written and oral communication skills, including communicating clearly with other chemists and scientists, and nonscientists.Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.Detail orientated and able to multi-taskAbility to discuss scientific strategies/results and interact with the client's internal departments.Interested in hearing more?
