As modern aircraft produce increasing amounts of data in operations and maintenance, analytics transforms that data into insights to improve performance, enable smarter services, and increase productivity.The Boeing Global Services (BGS) Data Sciences team is looking to hire a LeadData Engineer with knowledge in fields such as machine learning techniques, advanced statistics, data engineering, and experienced with development of end-to-end analytics solutions. This position is in Seattle, WA.As a member of the BGS Engineering Analytics team, the candidate will work to support other data scientists and data engineers to analyze data, perform data/feature engineering work, engage with customers, and assist in the growth of a key focus area for Boeing engineering in Safety Analytics. This BGS team is partnered with other analytics organizations to focus on identifying and solving critical safety needs using in-service data and insights.These skills will be used to coordinate with other Boeing engineering teams, Airline stakeholders, and other analytics teams in the effort to develop data driven solutions for the measurement, characterization and analysis of airline operational safety.Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with big data applications to develop data pipelines in support of organizational analytics objectives. Pipelines will be used as the basis for productionizing and deploying solutions to end-users
  • Work in cloud data environments such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform preparing data for analysis, e.g. cleansing, conditioning, transforming, handling missing fields, identifying new feature variables and handling multi-variate data
  • Modifies and analyzes data sets using analytics techniques to identifies modeling attributes and parameters. Applies algorithms to create descriptive, or predictive models to achieve project deliverables
  • Supports identifying best-fit analytics methodology (statistics, machine learning, optimization, simulation) given the data, business requirements, and fit-for-purpose constraints. Develop and deploy data engineering plan to build into production pipeline
  • Develop pipeline health monitoring capabilities to ensure data stability and quality
  • Performs procedures in evaluation and validation of correctness of models and analysis. Supports evaluation and validation of performance of models and analysis
  • Support integration of analytic models and data pipelines into production software or environments
  • Develop reports and visualizations to support communication of results to internal and external business and technical teams
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in data science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, computer science or engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL
  • 5+ years of experience in Python
  • 3+ years of experience building data pipelines
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud technology (preferably Azure or Google Cloud Platform)
  • 1+ yeas of experience in deploying analytics into production environments (CI/CD, software engineering, GitHub collaborative environments)
  • 1+ years of developing technology/analytics development plans for long term customer support
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in aerospace safety domain
  • Experience working with engineering teams and technical data
  • Experience in working with integrated development teams
Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
