Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced software developer to join our team as our Associate Linux Platform Engineer. In this role, you will develop, deploy, and maintains Linux Operating Systems for Safety-Critical and non-Safety critical applications. Will develop for and participate in the ELISA (Enabling Linux in Safety Application) project efforts. Software Engineers will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Systems Engineers, Testers, business leaders, and customers to design and build new OS features. The team uses a number of technologies and in need of Engineers with a wide variety of software engineering skills. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.The team uses a number of technologies and in need of Engineers with a wide variety of software engineering skills. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.This position can sit remotely out of any of the following locations: Berkeley MO, North Charleston SC, Huntington Beach CA, El Segundo CA, Mesa AZ, Oklahoma City OK, Huntsville AL, Plano TX, San Antonio TX, or Ridley Park PA.Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Development of code and integration of complex software components into fully functional Linux Operating Systems
  • Provides innovative solutions to complex OS platform layering and reusable build architecture problems
  • Maintain a product line focus when developing tools and platform capabilities
  • Provides technical leadership for software projects
  • Development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
  • Works under minimal direction
  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on projects.
  • Interacts with senior personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C, C# and/or Java
  • 1+ Years professional experience implementing software in DO-178C policy driven development.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with diverse stakeholder needs
  • 1+ years of experience do you have with Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and RPM packages
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with Yocto or Open Embedded Projects
  • Experience working with and contributing to Open Source Software (OSS)
  • Linux kernel and/or Linux driver development experience
  • 1+ years of professional development experience managing project source code in a Git repository.
  • 1+ years of professional experience developing in a Linux runtime environment.
  • 1+ years of professional experience maintaining a fully automated build pipeline.
  • 1+ years of professional experience patching and maintaining Open Source Software
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
