Architectural draftsperson

We are looking for an architectural-trained draftsperson to work in a small, residential firm. We do custom home design on Mount Desert Island and surrounding coastal communities.

Candidates must have a degree in the field of architecture; a couple of years of experience is preferred, but not required. The position can be freelance, part-time or full-time. I am willing to train the right candidate.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Proficiency with Sketchup/Layout and Mac-based software such as Pages and Numbers.

Comfort with hand sketching and drawing to produce quick design solution possibilities.

A general knowledge of residential codes and zoning laws, plus the ability to search for the answers when not known.

Pluses: proficiency with Photoshop and other presentation software.

A general knowledge of wood-framed construction and comfort coordinating with contractors on a jobsite.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with the principal on collaborative and independent projects.

Producing and coordinating drawings from concept to permit, including thorough construction documents and details.

Coordinating finish selections and schedules.

Compensation: $20-$25/hr depending upon abilities. Pay and benefits will certainly increase with experience over time. We are looking for someone who can be a part of the company, part of a small team and will take pride in their work.
