Job Title: Software Solution Test Engineering Manager IAre you an exceptional engineering leader? Introduction:The Software Solution Test Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the software solution offerings meet Toshiba's quality standards and follow the test SDLC. This role works to develop team members into highly skilled test engineers in all aspects of quality assurance including test planning and coverage, test automation, and scaling across teams. This manager works with the Software Quality Director to establish strategic direction, roadmap, best practices, and works with the QA leads to ensure implementation of these practices. The manager engages with relative stakeholders (including Product Owners, Program Managers and Development managers) across all products included in solution deliverables. Candidates should have the ability to participate and help their teams with hands-on demonstration when needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of solution test employees (including hiring, career growth and additional HR responsibilities). Lead, mentor, and drive success within software solutions test team.
  • Implement and maintain quality improvement processes and ensure proper test coverage. Identify testing gaps within the solution and implement plans to improve. Develop and execute software test strategies. Support the team in performing functional black box and white box, GUI, integration, system, solution, and regression testing.
  • Keep up to speed on industry process, practice, and technology developments to enhance the solutions applied to test. Assist in the design and review of test automation frameworks, harnesses, and code libraries to enable the team to both use and enhance them across product solutions.
  • Support test environment setup including hardware and software installations. Acquire additional equipment for the team, within needs and budget.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies for software development. Collaborate with product and development teams to understand user requirements and define test coverage. Review software design documents, functional specifications, user scenarios, and existing test coverage.
  • Support team in analysis, design, implementation, and execution of test cases, test procedures, and test results. Track the team's progress on test progress, quality metrics, and defect resolution and disposition.
  • Communicate closely with the project team leads and managers on test status, risks, mitigation plans. Provide input on risks and quality decisions.
  • Review and approve documentation for test initiatives including test process and plans, custom installation procedures, process improvements, and traceability matrices. Document formal test/validation plans, protocols, and results.

Required Skills:
  • BS in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
  • 0-5 years of management experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software test engineering
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience
  • 3+ years of experience building or leading automation test efforts
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience implementing software testing methodologies and best practices
  • Experience with test coverage analysis, test execution, and defect management
  • Experience with SDLC tools for requirements management, configuration management, defect tracking and continuous integration
  • Test automation and tooling experience (Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins, Postman, TestNG, etc.)
  • Effective verbal and written communication; able to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • Ability to work with customer requirements to understand quality, testing, and environmental needs
  • Experience delivering and supporting business to business or business to customer software
  • Strong analytical skills and great attention to detail
  • Ability to understand use cases and application usage scenarios for planning and execution of software testing
  • Self-starter with the ability to coordinate work with other team members.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Programming experience a plus

Preferred Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in software test engineering
  • POS (Point of Sale) industry experience
  • Combined hardware device / software testing experience
  • Experience setting up physical and virtual test environments, both local containerized environments (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes) and full customer-like integrated solutions
