Title: Network Engineer - Senior

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Baton Rouge, LA (

MUST BE IN LOUISIANA AND PREFERABLY AROUND THE BATON ROUGE)

Contract type: Corp to Corp

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with ConnectLA, stakeholders, and eligible applicants in developing projects and provide technical assistance during application process.
  • Review and provide guidance on applications submitted to the program for application approval and award.
  • Deliver ongoing technical assistance such as mapping (through ARC GIS and Google Earth) of unserved and underserved areas, network strategies, federal laws and state laws related to telecommunication and broadband networks.
  • Evaluate project performance and deliverables to make certain project results are meeting the intended goal and objectives.
  • Perform field auditing procedures within the state of Louisiana and review of previously awarded grant agreements.
  • Assist in development of contractual agreements between ConnectLA and applicants stating the terms and conditions on which applicants will receive awards, including project phases, release of funds provisions, compliance with applicable laws.

Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are mandatory:
  • Five (5) years telecommunications experience in network infrastructure design, buildout, and operational experience.
  • Strong understanding of technology diverse solutions and architectures, including but not limited to fixed wireless, Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification, and Fiber To The Premises
  • Strong understanding of Internet Protocol and optical network technologies, including but not limited to Multiprotocol Label Switching, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, Synchronous Optical Network, Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial, Radio Frequency Over Glass, Gigabit Passive Optical Network, and multiple protocols
  • Strong knowledge of broadband network architecture and construction methodology, limits, and specifications of underlying technology, and capabilities for wireline and wireless implementation, with consideration for future scalability
  • Strong knowledge of mapping software, including but not limited to ARC GIS, Google Earth, etc.

Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are desirable but not mandatory:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Strong knowledge of professional grant writing/management and permitting requirements for local entities.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Information technology or information systems audit experience
