- Key member of R&D team pushing the development of advanced ceramic materials for critical applications.
- Navigating a fast paced environment utilizing lean innovation techniques to rapidly generate results.
- Involvement in all steps of the materials development process including designing, fabrication and testing while working on various technical projects in parallel.
- Operate in a laboratory and manufacturing environment that may include operating test equipment and process machinery
- Develop customized solutions to test or evaluate material systems when necessary.
- Quickly absorb the state of the art condition of a particular application or material system and then move into the next stages of development and manufacturing.
- Develop intellectual property related to the materials and applications.
- Analyzes test results in relation to design specifications and objectives, and modifies or adjusts prototypes, products, and/or systems to meet desired specifications.
- Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and makes recommendations for changes and improvements of products and/or test methods
- Participates in technical and cross functional teams to resolve technical problems and ensures effective communication within the teams and the rest of the organization at all stages of the product life cycle.
- Ensures compliance to company policies, programs, procedures and regulatory standards (such as ISO 9001).
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Demonstrate on a continuing basis the professional and personal conduct described and required by Code of Conduct.
- Adherence to Code of Conduct as applicable to job function.
- Operate in accordance and in full compliance with all applicable ISO standards, procedures and documentation.
- Coordinates and fully cooperates with other departments and work groups.
- Conduct and/or participate-in special projects, as required.
- Graduate degree (MS,PhD) in Engineering, Materials Science or Physics preferred but BS with applicable experience will be considered.
- Experience with ceramic based materials is a plus but not required
- Excellent communication skills and comfort with presenting technical data to peers or colleagues unfamiliar with the topic.
- Computer literate with Microsoft based environment and comfortable handling complex data analysis
- Working in a manufacturing R&D environment preferred.
- Laboratory skills including chemistry, physics, testing and characterization.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 practices
