Industry-leading FinTech company looking for an in-house General Counsel. Over the next few years, the company expects to be operating in increasingly complex regulatory environments as it adds money movement and account holding services. We are now seeking to add a senior legal executive to help us address these new requirements. This role will report directly to the CFO.

Role and responsibilities:
  • Performs the legal work for the company, taking a hands-on approach where possible, but also managing outside counsel
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and review a broad range of commercial agreements
  • Provide practical, timely, strategic legal advice

    on money movement, privacy and data protection matters grounded in understanding the company’s business, internal policies, and regulatory compliance obligations
  • Support the cybersecurity team, including incident response efforts, to address issues such as potential liability and other legal aspects related to

    privacy compliance and risk mitigation
  • Monitor, analyze and provide guidance on evolving laws, rules, regulations, and trends in the FinTech space
  • Work cross-functionally with members of the growing business team at all levels of the organization
  • Identify issues requiring remediation and opportunities for process improvement

Requirements:
  • J.D.degree and licensed to practice in California, or the ability to apply for California's Registered In-House Counsel.
  • Prefer experience as an in-house lawyer at a fintech company, advising senior management, but will also consider applicants at a law firm with significant relevant experience (4+ years at Associate Level or above)
  • Comfortable interacting at the C-level/board level both inside the organization and with a large-scale customer base and outside partners.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills.

Location: On-Site in Menlo Park, CA (Hybrid Schedule – 2 days on-site/week ), or 100% Remote in the U.S. if licensed to practice in CA.Job Type: Full time
