JOB SUMMARY

The main purpose of this position is to keep Werner on the leading edge and help to guide Werner to best-in-class decisions in the ever-changing marketplace through extensive research and detailed studies/testing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listedposition.

  • Be a key member of the Werner Innovation Committee which focuses on new technologies (Natural Gas, hydrogen, battery, autonomous, platooning, etc.) and the changing landscape on equipment (truck and trailers) and their ever-changing specifications.

  • Meet with vendors on many of the new technologies and study, test and meet with new entrants to the market

  • Research and develop equipment maintenance programs to reduce carbon footprint component. Example- Fuel, Tires, Oil and all other components related.

  • Manage cost and benefit analysis for engineering projects.

  • Develop metrics for transportation analysis.

  • Conduct financial and variance analysis for expenses, services, and quality.

  • Provide recommendations based on data analyses and research.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

  • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of transportation industry and terminology, usually gained through practical experience andon-the-job training.

Skill in operating a P.C.

Good analytical and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner when talkingwith drivers, vendors and other support staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ degree in Engineering required.

One to two years transportation/trucking experience.

One to two years P.C. and AS400 experience preferred.

One to two years customer service experience preferred.
