Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Manager - Simulation Interface and Modeling Standards (Virtual) to join our Enterprise Simulation team. This position requires a deep understanding of simulation technologies, software development, scalable frameworks and software interfaces, containerization, communication protocols, synchronous and asynchronous routing. You will be expected to build and guide a team to develop enterprise standards, interfaces, and tools for constructing and connecting simulation models in a uniform and efficient manner. As a key technical leader on the team, you must be a skillful communicator to a variety of audiences, able to see problems through several perspectives at different levels of abstraction. You will work to inform and evolve a strong product vision, align customers and developers to that vision, identify and adapt to challenges along the way. This position may require US domestic travel up to 20% of the time.Position Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a team to develop enterprise-level standards and tools for building and interfacing simulation models and related components in a common and reusable manner
  • Lead the establishment of common design practices for architecting Simulink/SysML/UML/AADL system models, and workflows for code-generation, validation, and incorporation of these models into complex software simulation environments
  • Lead the development of standards and tools for consuming diverse system/interface definitions in various formats and for distilling them into a standard simulation composition and interface definition
  • Lead the establishment of common repositories for reusable models and tools; drive their integration into simulation development workflows
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of the above and drive adoption across the enterprise
  • Partner with Boeing system design, engineering, and testing/verification teams to ensure effective integration and support for the full product lifecycle
  • Gather and interpret diverse technical information to guide development
  • Develop plans, budgets; estimate timelines and resources needed for success
  • Manage Risks, Issues & Opportunities
  • Inform the product vision for the Boeing Enterprise Simulation, Test, and Analysis Framework
  • Define and launch specific projects that demonstrate that vision
  • Support, lead, and judiciously delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Identify appropriate goals and metrics for product success and drive implementation across the teams
  • Establish the appropriate type and level of process to improve product quality, developer performance and experience; simplify existing complex processes as needed
  • Collaborate with leadership team on strategy development
  • Provide clear written and spoken communication to a variety of audiences
  • Foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion
This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Menlo Park, CA, USA. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Confidential Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in managing or leading a team in the software development discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in software architecture development and verification
  • 2+ years of experience with developing, documenting and maintaining complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, software-to-hardware interfaces and designs for software systems
  • 2+ years of experience in developing large scale distributed software systems and cloud service deployment
  • Experience with developing project execution plans, schedules and budgets
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies
  • Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of hands-on full-lifecycle software development
  • 5+ years of leading, managing, and growing software teams
  • Experience with Product-Line Engineering
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines
  • Experience with safety-critical and mission-critical development processes
  • Experience with web-first development support tools (Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, or similar)
