RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce has a client that is seeking a Lead Platform Communications System Engineer in McLean, VA.Duties Include: Lead Platform Communications System Engineer will lead a broad spectrum of technical teams and Vendors to define the requirements for designing advanced platform communications system Lead the overall Platform project including planning, development, implementation, validation, and commercial readiness Derive and disseminate information that helps internal customers (BUs, Products, etc.) and external customers to understand the virtualized platform concept and its advantages compared to the commercial traditional platform including supporting Field trials and Demos Contribute significantly to strategic technology planning and innovation that will fundamentally transform Intelsat's business model Work proactively and collaboratively across technical and program teams to solve key design challenges; Effectively communicate results of analysis and impacts on system baselines and KPIs, make system and architecture recommendations based on rigorous analysis and trade studies Good understanding of the current existing commercial platform and Nextgen virtualized platform elements Coordinate and provide oversight and support for the Platform workstreams assigned for different Platform functional areas As a Lead Platform Communications System Engineer, you will work closely with Vendors developing the platform and provide guidance and oversight Working closely with PMs Ensures infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency and support platform compatibilityREQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics with emphasis on communications or communications-related specialties At least 12 years of advanced engineering innovation experience, including Platform Communications system, satellite communications systems, broadband communications, and complex systems engineering projects Good background of the commercial platform main functions, Platform Forward and Return access schemes, NMS, QOS & ACM/MODCOD, e2e platform performance Good understanding of ground subsystems interfacing with the platform including Resource manager, Orchestration, GW Smart diversity, SNP, and monitoring Good understanding of 5G NR waveform and 5G RAN protocol stack Must have excellent innovation and -out-of-the box- thinking skills Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including prior experience in presenting technical data and metrics to non-technical audiences Ability to multi-task and make time critical decisions Able to promote good working relationship with peers and stakeholders by maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, key customers, and department members, ensuring that communication is responsive and that a mutual understanding is obtained, either orally or in writingKforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
