Position Summary: Provide data architecture expertise and technical support to the customer Business Intelligence team and business partners across the enterprise. Typical duties include capturing user requirements; performing analysis and data modeling, testing, quality assurance, software configuration management, data architecture design, and program documentation; working with end users and report builders; status and management reporting. This position will be expected to be able to lead discussions, design sessions, and define process and governance in the field of data architecture for the enterprise.

General Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise in the area of Data Architecture
    • This includes:
      • Data architecture best practices in supporting BI reporting
      • Expertise with Data Warehouse-like techniques for building highly available, easily accessible, intuitive and high performing data sets.
      • Familiar with modern data tools such as Virtualization tools like Tibco Data Virtualization and PowerBI.
      • Ability to understand and balance the need for governance against the need to deliver.
      • Ability to mentor less experienced data architecture staff
      • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a matrixed team environment.
      • Direct experience with the construction of data sets to be used by multiple reporting tools including PowerBI.
      • Oracle DB and other Database experience.
      • Understanding of best practices related to data dictionary and data architecture documentation.
  • Work with end users to develop requirements for new data sets and modification to existing data sets
  • Create, modify, and adhere to business processes for data architecture design, governance, testing, training, implementations, communications, and change management
  • Develop and document data architecture best practices for adoption across multiple enterprise data sets
  • Working with current Data staff to build out Data sets that will be consumed by PowerBI
  • Building robust, high performing datasets that can be consumed by programs and report writing staff
  • Support development of iterative proofs of concepts for new data sets, end user reports, and dashboards
  • Code promotions are managed according to the customers' documented procedures.
  • Production code promotions are completed accurately. Production software code promotions are auditable.
  • All production releases are documented, and all software change processes are completed.
  • Production code releases are reviewed and formally approved prior to promotion.
  • Support review and approval of team member code promotions.
  • Perform unit testing and debugging of data sets

Essential Skills, Experience, and Certifications:
  • 7+ years’ experience with designing and developing data models and data architecture.
  • Experience collaborating with enterprise stakeholders to implement data governance to achieve technical, business, and compliance objectives.
  • Working understanding of data virtualization and its importance in an overall enterprise data architecture.
  • Proven track record of leading the development of enterprise data models.
  • Understanding of data quality dimensions and their application to ensure an effective data architecture.
  • Experience with performing business analysis and documenting user requirements.
  • Experience with performing coding, testing and debugging of data sets individually and collectively

Data Architecture experience (desired):
  • 10+ years’ experience with designing and developing data models and data architecture.
  • Experience with multiple data virtualization platforms (TIBCO, Denodo, etc.)
  • Experience working with Splunk
  • Experience with service-based architectures and working with and implementing SOAP and REST-based APIs.
  • Knowledge of container technologies and implementing CI/CD pipelines a plus.
  • Able to work independently with business teams to help develop integration solutions.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance. You must be a US Citizen to be eligible for the clearance.
