ICF’s Survey Creation, Execution, Management, Analysis and Statistics team (within ICF’s Survey Research Practice) is seeking a Survey Methodologist who will play a key role in designing survey questionnaires and protocols and advising clients and project teams on best practices for a range of survey projects in public health, housing, military and veteran’s issues, energy, transportation, environment, and social and economic policy.The successful candidate will work as part of a team with data managers, analysts, statisticians, and project managers. ICF Survey Methodologists work on both short-term and long-term survey projects in a wide range of roles focused on questionnaire design, developing study methodology plans, reporting and more. The strongest candidates will have a passion to continue to grow their careers in survey methodology and will enjoy the challenge of designing innovative and complex methods to collect or assemble the most accurate data possible.Key ResponsibilitiesDeveloping general survey methodologies, including data collection modes, contact materials, protocols, and interviewing strategies

Designing and testing questionnaires, including conducting expert reviews, cognitive interviews (and other pretesting techniques), and assisting with development of programming specifications

Engaging with project management staff and clients during all stages of the project lifecycle, with an emphasis on early requirements gathering and study design

Authoring and co-authoring methodology and substantive reports for clients (e.g., writing, editing, and data analysis)

Participating in ICF's methodology and statistics thought leadership by leading or co-authoring or conference presentations, original research, proceedings papers and working papers, and peer-reviewed manuscripts

Contributing to business development through proposal writing on relevant topics

Basic QualificationsMS/MA degree in survey methodology, a social/behavioral science, public health, statistics, or data science.

3+ years of experience in survey methods, design, or administration, including experience with questionnaire design, interview design, or general survey methods design

Experience interpreting basic statistical results (e.g., percentages, means, chi-square, t-tests, and correlations)

Preferred QualificationsExperience leading questionnaire design or pretesting tasks (e.g., cognitive testing, expert review, behavior coding, focus groups)

Significant writing experience, including client reports, proposals, peer-reviewed papers, or other types of thought leadership

Ability to independently conduct and interpret statistical analyses, such as chi-square, t-tests, correlation, ANOVA, and regression

Familiarity with statistical software such as R, Python, SAS or SPSS

Experience in survey project management
