Delivery Driver - Furniture
New York, Watertown , 13601 Watertown USA

Vacancy expired!

Markson's Furniture is family owned and operated. We have two locations - our Lyell Avenue location in Rochester, which has been there for 20 years, and our location on West Ridge Road in Greece, which has been there for 7 years. We're currently looking for a Furniture Delivery Driver to join to our team at our central warehouse on Mt Read Blvd.

Our family grew up in the Rochester community, and are happy to call it home. Our mission is to provide our community with the best possible service with the lowest prices on furniture. We're very proud that our furniture store are the highest rated in Rochester on Google. The owners are involved in the day to day operations and are always available to talk to, whether it be a concern or an idea you have to improve the company.

Your day on the job will look like

In the morning, you'll clock in at 9 am and begin the delivery runs. You'll call through your customer list, and let them know you're on the road, and to give a final reminder that their rooms need to be clear and ready. With the morning run finished, we break for lunch, and reload when we come back. The afternoon run begins and ends.

When the day of deliveries has finished, we have all the trucks back at the warehouse between 4 pm and 5 pm. We use the remainder of the work day to report any issues from the day to the warehouse manager, get rid of the trash on the trucks and reload for the next morning.

Days with a full schedule will mean that deliveries are the only priority. The warehouse team preps the loads so that loading is efficient and the day stays on time.

Days without a full schedule will leave time to assist around the warehouse. This can include general cleaning, helping move inventory to their organized zones, unloading furniture shipments, prepping furniture for deliveries and helping with showroom maintenance.

Qualities we look for in a candidate

We look for a candidate that we believe will help us fulfil our mission: excellent customer service.

Communication is a crucial part of great service. This includes the ability to communicate respectfully and professionally to both customers and team members. Customers want to understand the process, how they fit into the day, and what our solutions will be if something goes wrong. Team members want to know how to work together efficiently and how to work through problems that arise. The owners want to make sure both customers and team members are cared for, and look for areas to improve the company.

Reliability is extremely important to a smooth running day. We build our teams to be efficient, and each member makes an impact on the day. A driver's impact is making sure the customers are getting their deliveries as promised. If we cannot fulfill our promise, we are breaking the customers trust and offering poor service.

Experience provides a great understanding of how deliveries impact a customer's experience with a company. The delivery is the last part of the experience - and often the most impactful. A salesperson can be the most helpful person in the world, but if the delivery driver is rude and damages the customer's home, that'll be the lasting memory. Where furniture experience is lacking, we would be looking for a background that can be clearly applied to the position, including the willingness to learn and how you've demonstrated that in the past.

Skills you'll need to have to succeed

- Team-lift heavy furniture up to 300 lbs

- Read and utilize delivery manifests, including inventory to load and instructions on deliveries

- Drive larger, heavier trucks safely and legally

- Pack and organize furniture into the truck safely and efficiently

- Problem solving and understanding how to maneuver furniture within homes

Must be flexible to work between the hours of 9 am to 6pm weekdays, and 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday. Benefits, vacation time, competitive wages and future growth are all available.
