Job Summary: Leads full technology project process, from conception to deployment, including scope and solution planning and development of complex projects or programs. Designs, develops and oversees strategic project/program opportunities. Leads project/program management activities (defining scheduling, budgeting, risk and change management, opportunity and resource management, as well as transformation and process change activities) for the most complex projects or programs. The Systems Project Manager ensures that effective project techniques and processes are established, tools are available, and coaches ITS analysts and technicians and others in their use. He/she manages portfolio of multiple projects supporting BHS mission and strategies. Maintains and coordinates project status reporting for the department. The PM uses Lean and quality improvement techniques to define and design improvement opportunities. He/she will provide metrics on current and future state related to project impacting process transformation. The Project Manager is responsible for initiating, planning, leading, and overseeing information technology projects that support Benefis Health System’s mission and strategies from ideation through completion. The project manager works closely with management, sponsors, and project team members to ensure that all project deliverables, schedules, and budgets remain on track while managing resources and directing issue resolution. The position requires concurrent management of a portfolio of multiple projects of varying size and complexity while utilizing effective project management techniques and following the established ITS project management process. Responsibilities also include coaching ITS leads and team members in the appropriate use of project management process and the project management portfolio tools.Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.Demonstrates thorough understanding and application of project management principles and methodologies.Follows prescribed ITS Project Management Office processes and phase gates.Determines and defines project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.Predicts resources needed to reach objectives and coordinate/manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.Works closely with ITS staff and other departments to ensure project timelines correspond with availability of project resources.Prepares project budgets based on scope of work and resource requirements.Facilitates contracting and procurement procedures.Develops and manages a detailed project schedule and work plan.Performs risk management to minimize project risks.Manages project progress and makes adjustments as needed.Facilitates issue resolution. Reports and escalates to management as needed.Manages, tracks, and reconciles project financials.Provides project updates, including up-to-date audience appropriate reporting, on a consistent basis to stakeholders, leadership, and team members about strategy, budget, progress, and adjustments.Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.Utilizes industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.Measures project performance to identify areas for improvement.Displays original thinking in applying principles, theories, and concepts on a wide range of problems.Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of organizations business practices and challenges and contributes to problem resolution.Fosters a collaborative environment within department to achieve targets and goals.Understands future changes/trends in the Healthcare and Technology industries and how they relate to align Benefis’ long term goals and projects.Demonstrates effective use of industry standard software tools.

Education/Experience Requirements:BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree or equivalent experience required.1 year experience in project management preferred.3 years experience in a health care and / or IT environment preferred. Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification or higher required.Experience collaborating with and organizing large teams.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
