Rolling Stock Mechanic

Seneca has an opening for a swing shift Rolling Stock Mechanic at our Eugene location. This is an opportunity that does not come open often! Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing plant vehicles and equipment such as; forklifts, pickup trucks, log handling machines (Shovels and Wheel Loaders), welder, pressure washers, shop equipment and manlifts. Maintain repair logs and troubleshoot equipment. Must have knowledge of mechanical repairs and understanding of the internal mechanisms and maintenance tasks to repair, service, and keep up various equipment. This is a full time opportunity. Hourly wage is dependent on experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Communicate with operators to identify and repair problems with vehicles/equipment.

-Maintain regular service intervals for all vehicles/equipment and document actions in maintenance records.

-Troubleshoot malfunctions and implement repair actions.

-Coordinate with outside agencies for assistance with repairs beyond internal capabilities. Maintain adequate levels of supplies to optimize in service time for all vehicles/equipment.

-Inspect, repair and adjust diesel powered vehicles/equipment

-Performs incidental welding operations on equipment. May also use cutting torch and grinder as necessary.

-Communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.

-Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

-Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

-2-5 years’ experience working on gas and diesel engines or equivalent education/certifications.

-Ability to use a wire feed welder, stick welder and cutting torch.

-Ability able to read and interpret technical manuals.

-Must be able to read and understand MSDS.

-Must be able to learn to operate overhead crane and rolling stock equipment.

-Must be able to differentiate colors.

-Ability to communicate in oral and written form, with employees at all levels of the company.

-Ability to work additional overtime, to include weekend work and swing shift hours as needed.

-Ability to work between the Noti and Eugene locations as needed.

-Must be able to work independently and work well with others.
