- Responsible for assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment of operations units supporting various operational stages of the client investment lifecycle, including account creation; trading; clearance; settlement; servicing; and distribution.
- Participates in audits of varying complexity, including stand-alone operational audits; horizontal audits reviewing enterprise-wide controls; continuous audits of certain control areas; global audits coordinated across multiple regions; and integrated audits coordinated across business and technology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary.
- Performs effectively both as a team member contributing to the achievement of team goals, and as an individual contributor, as applicable.
- Learns operational processes quickly and effectively through discussions and relationships with Operations teams and business partner groups (Control, Risk, Compliance, and Legal), specialist led process walkthroughs, and procedure review. Identifies key risks along with the manual and automated mitigating controls.
- Remains alert to the changing nature of risk for operations units.
- Completes high quality, risk-focused fieldwork, in accordance with Internal Audit policies, methodologies, and quality standards.
- Analyzes the control environment and develops effective control test steps. Identifies inconsistencies between the control environment, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates understanding of businesses and operational processes by creating accurate and clear flowcharts, work papers, and analysis, as well as through discussions with the Audit Project Leader, Audit Manager, and Auditees.
- Has built a foundational understanding of core concepts in data analytics, experience developing Vizio flowcharts, and familiarity with automated workpapers preferred.
- Elevates potential audit issues to the Auditor-In-Charge as soon as identified and begins to develop solutions to address issues.
- Assists in recommending corrective actions and identifying opportunities to gain efficiencies, including the use of automation and software support.
- Balances multiple simultaneous audit assignments and other departmental tasks and functions.
- Engages in relevant training regarding audit, businesses, financial controls, regulations, or a particular specialty and seeks to apply this knowledge in their role.
- Displays flexible and adaptive problem-solving skills due to the variety of operational and technological infrastructures within the Company.
- Relevant knowledge of financial institutions and applicable regulatory requirements beneficial, but not required.
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant critical thinking specialty preferred.
- 2-6 years relevant experience including experience in audit or the relevant specialty area preferred.
