The Associate Privacy and Rights Operations department, within Marriott’s Global Human Resources (HR) organization, is responsible for Marriott’s global HR system compliance with data privacy regulations (such as Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, CPRA, and PIPL)) and local data retention laws, and operates at the intersection of HR, information Technology (iT), and the Law Department.The Senior Manager, Human Resources, Associate Privacy and Rights Operations will support Marriott’s day to day Associate Privacy operations and help build the department’s overall reach and capabilities. The Senior Manager is an integral position in the department and is responsible for supporting the three main areas of Rights Requests, Data Retention, and Program Support. More specifically this will include (1) performing and overseeing completion of regular and ad-hoc tasks for both individual rights responses and for data purge activities, and developing and managing related reporting, (2) leading the efforts for building and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for individual rights and data deletion processes for data stored in Corporate-managed systems, and (3) managing projects to expand the depth of abilities within systems and expand the breadth of scope to include additional systems, (4) participating in special projects and programs as necessary. This position handles confidential, sensitive personal data. This position will report to the Vice President, Associate Data Privacy and Rights Operations.EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONSThe primary responsibilities of this position include:Rights Requests: Individual Rights and Privacy Compliance

Managing the intake, analysis, response, and closure of individual rights requests from candidates/applicants and from both current and former Marriott associates globally; partners with the HR representatives and law department colleagues to ensure that appropriate responses are undertaken to comply with both the law and Marriott’s policies;

Leading the efforts to build and maintain protocols and processes related to individual rights and to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the individual rights response processes; helping to build new process and protocols as necessary;

Developing and producing regular management reports and providing data as necessary to support internal and regulatory needs; Reviewing data for both trends and anomalies;

Participating in system upgrade reviews and implementations; providing guidance based on individual rights and purge processes;

Assisting in the review and coordination of potential privacy or data security incidents, including investigations, notifications, and other resolution efforts; is a key internal contact supporting Applicant and associate personal data;

Representing the department in meetings or projects regarding the individual rights processes;

Keeping current in knowledge with changes to data privacy laws and other relevant legislation.

Data Retention: Candidate and Associate Data Purge Operations

Overseeing and leading the enterprise-wide, cyclical and ad-hoc deletion and purge operations; Partnering with Marriott internal stakeholders and Marriott’s HR department vendors to ensure that data is deleted permanently both internally and externally in accordance with legal requirements and Marriott’s policies.

Leading the development, implementation, and sustainment of additional purge processes as well as the deletion and purge documentation; reviewing documentation on a regular basis to ensure compliance; provide updates to internal and external stakeholders to ensure processes are continually in compliance; Supporting regular reporting and ad-hoc requests from HR and other departments (e.g., IT, Legal).

Partnering with additional vendors and HR departments to expand data purge to additional systems.

Representing the department in meetings or projects regarding the purge operations.

Program Support: Project Participation

Participate on teams and engage in projects relevant to applicant and associate data privacy, such as technology implementations, process changes, labor negotiations, and other matters.

CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIREDEducation AND Experience:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. Graduate degree a plus.

Minimum of seven years of experience in HR or Data Privacy preferred.

Demonstrated experience running business processes, developing and maintaining documentation and records, running reports, and working with external vendors.

Demonstrated experience using enterprise-wide technology on a regular basis to complete work.

Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or other relevant professional certification a plus.

Strong project management skills and good analytical skills; ability to present data findings in a comprehensive and concise manner.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and resources with a sense of urgency and to navigate within a complex organization.

High degree of initiative, strong sense of confidentiality, good judgment to effectively resolve issues and intellectual curiosity with a desire to learn.

Good business acumen and commercial focus; knowledge of lodging/hospitality industry a plus.

Resilient, and adapts easily in a changing environment; Comfortable with iterating solutions.

Proficiency with enterprise systems, collaboration tools, and Microsoft Office applications; ability to effectively use basic formulas and pivot tables in Excel; the ability to code or configure systems is not required as this is not part of the job tasks.
