Substitute Teacher, Juvenile Court and Community Schools

The Santa Barbara County Education Office is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Substitute Teacher with the Juvenile Court and Community Schools department in Santa Maria. This is a part time, on-call/as needed position.

JOB SUMMARY:

Providing vital educational services to incarcerated youth as well as students who are transitioning back to district schools from court schools, having violated criminal law; offenders referred by probation or social service and those students who have been expelled from school.

EDUCATION:

Must be credentialed, hold or qualify for a permit (based on having a BA), verification of passing score on CBEST exam or another approved basic skills option.

Fingerprint verification of eligibility for employment will be required of selected applicant at his/her expense.

INCENTIVE: We have implemented a new incentive program this fiscal year: receive $200 after 20 full days worked subbing; another $200 upon 60 full days worked subbing.
