This is a unique opportunity to live and work in Boulder! We are seeking a live-in companion to assist a young woman with cognitive challenges in need of independent living support. You will share a centrally located 2 bedroom 1-1/2 bath apartment that is part of an Independent Living Community sponsored by Boulder Housing Partners and The Ramble Collective.
Requirements
Experience working with special needs individuals.
Female non-smoker.
Car ownership with proof of insurance & a clean driving record.
Share apartment with an easy-going young woman with cognitive challenges who is transitioning to independent living.
Enjoy cooking with an interest in healthy food choices.
Enjoy regular exercise (neighborhood walks, gym, etc.)
Willingness to be flexible with work schedule.
Description of Employment Opportunity
Averaging 32 hours per week to support independence in areas such as meal planning, shopping, cooking & cleanup, time management, household chores, hygiene (minimal), laundry & local transportation.
Wages are exempt from federal income tax liability.
Support hours are primarily during the daytime and into the evenings (Tuesday am thru Sunday am), with free time while roommate is at PT work and recreational/social activities. Roommate typically spends Sunday am through Monday pm with family (locally in Boulder).
Occasional extra hours when family is unavailable to provide weekend support.
In addition, an average of 14 hours per week of respite are included where support is the responsibility of a second, non-resident, companion.
One weekend off each month (Friday pm through Monday pm) when respite companion is on duty and providing day/evening services within the apartment.
Opportunity for additional unpaid time off when roommate is away from the apartment with her family on vacation.
Description of Housing
Private, partially furnished bedroom.
Shared use of 1-1/2 bath.
