DC Peers is looking for a part-time Program Coordinator to help us coordinate and help run our neurodiverse social meetups and workshops with teens and adults. DC Peers is a small, nonprofit community organization, but the need for groups like ours is increasing dramatically, and we want to expand.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work with autistic and/or neurodivergent folks from a neurodiversity perspective. Our new Program Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director and with our group facilitators. We are a very small organization and the hierarchy is a bit fuzzy, but responsibilities may include:

- Overseeing the intake and registration process

- Handling communication with participants and parents

- Helping plan and run one or more of the groups (based on your interest)

- Creating and implementing new groups (i.e., a Dungeons & Dragons club) and planning special activities.

- Assisting with the evaluation of short-term and intermediate program outcomes through pre- and post-assessments and surveys of participants and parents.

- Conducting ongoing research and learning work about what we do, who else is doing it both locally and nationally, and what does and doesn't work

- Writing about our work more creatively and descriptively for grant applications and/or reports, or for our website or social media accounts.

- Contributing to the grant reporting process as it relates to program development and management of the DC Peers programming.

Core Qualifications

- Maturity, patience, and strong organization skills

- Very strong written and oral communication skills

- Facility with MS Office (Word, Excel, & Powerpoint), Google Drive (and Docs, Sheets, etc) and with Zoom, and ideally with tech in general

- Experience working with and guiding teenagers and groups

- Able to work both alone and collaboratively

- Nuanced knowledge of and experience with autism and neurodiversity

- Enthusiasm about our mission

- Must pass a criminal background check

- Must be vaccinated and boosted for Covid 19

Ideal Candidates will:

- Be detail-oriented and systematic in maintaining records

- Be able to build rapport with participants and families

- Be able to build and maintain relationships with external partners and organizations

- Be creative, flexible, and good at problem-solving

- Be familiar with “autism culture,” or at least “geek culture”!

- Be comfortable with social media (Tik Tok, Insta, Twitter, etc.)

TERMS:

This is a part-time exempt position. We will offer training and professional development opportunities, and there is definitely room for growth. Salary range will be between $25,000-$30,000, depending on experience, and ability to take over certain aspects of the program coordination.

Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and residents from under-resourced communities are strongly encouraged to apply. DC Peers does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, or sexual preference.

START DATE: August 29, 2022
