Field Canvasser Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Canvasser is responsible for disseminating information about the voter registration process and encouraging people to register to vote on the spot by completing a form. In this role, the Field Canvasser will be professional at all times, follow the instructions of the supervisor/driver, work pleasantly and efficiently in a team environment and represent the organization with knowledge and helpfulness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Memorizing and reciting sales scripts or statements prepared by the employer.

Approaching people in malls, shopping centers, schools and events to register people to vote

Meet a daily quota of collected voter registration cards

Checking voter registration card for accurate, complete and correct data

Set up table at community events to reach a broader audience

Displaying knowledge of the voter registration process and form

Maintaining a professional appearance

Reading and following maps and directions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1+ year of canvassing, customer service, admin or sales experience

Self-motivated and team-oriented

Ability to demonstrate professional and cheerful communication skills

Ability to read, write and print legibly

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner

Ability to work in different environmental conditions

Ability to travel to walk or stand for long periods

Ability to work outdoors

Excellent interpersonal skills

EDUCATION

High School diploma or GED
