Job Seeker w Slight Disability Desires Work (Provo)

I am the mother of a 27 year old job seeker, who happens to have a slight developmental problem.

I refuse to believe that the only way my son can work is if he has the financial aid and intervention of the Federal Government. We are new residents in Utah County, in the heart of a Christian community who believe in self reliance. Is there not one person or company in the Provo area who will give my son a chance? You will not find a more dedicated employee.

He completed the Deseret Industries work training program between Sep 2018 - Sep 2019. He sorted and tagged donations, as well as shelving them. He has references from that position, where he never missed a day. He is very capable of learning the tasks and schedules of a variety of jobs, but it will take longer than the average person. He is a happy worker, and works well with other people and customers. Part time or full-time.

One difficulty he has is talking on the phone. Most people speak too fast on the phone, and without visual cues he misses the message. So, I'm the go between.
