Position Summary The BAC is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, analytical, and energetic individual to serve as the Development and Special Events Associate, supporting the meaningful work being done in philanthropy and alumni relations at Boston Architectural College (BAC). The Associate will be a critical member of the BAC’s Institutional Advancement team, working alongside college leadership and external constituents to develop, support, and execute initiatives that will enhance giving and engagement at the College. Reporting to the Associate Director of Annual Giving & Engagement, the Associate will often serve as a primary point of contact with various executive level alumni volunteer leaders, and they must be able to represent the BAC in a professional, enthusiastic manner with excellent customer service. This position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to take initiative; manage multiple projects simultaneously; and complete discretion regarding the handling and storing of confidential data. This position is eligible to be hybrid with the expectation of working onsite at BAC’s Newbury Street, Boston office 1-2 days/week. Essential Responsibilities Coordinate logistics pertaining to alumni, donor-centric, and other special events including design, contract, venue, and/or platform selection, scripts, budgets, production schedules, vendors, broadcasts, communication plans, committees, fundraising support, on-site execution, and post-event analysis. Examples of current flagship events include BAC Talks, BAC Alumni Awards, and Giving Tuesday.

Act as a continuous resource for event stakeholders throughout the planning process via monthly meetings, email, phone call, Zoom, and other communication

Develop new and existing relationships with vendors, including researching and securing new partners to grow BAC’s portfolio of event vendor support

Help prepare for and staff Alumni Advisory Council meetings, donor visits, and campus gatherings

Coordinate a heavy volume of donor and alumni communications, including stewardship communications, event invitations, gift announcements, alumni newsletters, and news and social media stories

Help advance the BAC’s overall engagement and donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship through new and innovative ideas in collaboration with the Institutional Advancement team.

Help shape and coordinate the BAC’s annual calendar of fundraising events and campaigns

Develop and maintain strong working & communication relationships with other departments within the BAC, particularly those that have a direct impact on alumni and donor events

Support the continuous maintenance of the CRM system by collaborating with colleagues across campus to obtain new and accurate information for BAC students, alumni, and donors. Support the drafting and recording of donor-related activity in CRM.

Responsible for supporting other special projects as needed

A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred and at least three years of experience working in a nonprofit environment is required; preferably in higher education fundraising.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with leadership, faculty, prospects, donors, volunteers, and other key stakeholders in a variety of roles; represents the Office of Institutional Advancement with professionalism.

Must be able to manage multiple key projects at once with ease and efficiency.

Proven ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.

Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.

Ability to exercise good judgement and prioritize tasks under pressure.

A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy of work.

Highly collaborative in approach.

Positive energy, team orientated, and “can do” attitude.

Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Familiarity with Salesforce or similar data CRM software

Strong understanding of email marketing software systems such as Campaign Monitor, Pardot, and Emma.
