Job Title: Tech Lead/Principal Software Engineer - VP Job Description: As the Tech Lead/Principal Software Engineer for PE & RE Technology, you will develop and manage innovative technologies for our Asset Management teams. You will build, lead, and mentor a team of technologists to design, build, deploy, test, and support functionality across a variety of stacks and platforms. Through partnering with business stakeholders, you'll drive business value while also producing great code. Internal applications are built using a highly scalable microservice architecture that is deployed via containers to our cloud hosted Kubernetes environments. Key technologies in this framework include React, Typescript, Nodejs, Docker, NoSQL, API development (REST, gRPC, WebSockets), AWS, Python, C#, Jenkins, Terraform. You will be expected to take ownership of projects and identify business design gaps with Blackstone business analysts. You'll tackle a variety of problems from scaling out infrastructure to promoting business efficiency through automating contract creation. You'll devise elegant solutions to Blackstone's most important problems and put your own best ideas to work in an entrepreneurial environment inside one of the world's most successful companies. Responsibilities:

  • Use cloud native technologies and services to build scalable applications
  • Build, maintain and integrate web applications and micro-services, on a variety of platforms
  • Use modern software development methodologies and tools like JIRA to manage and deliver projects
  • Guide your team to:
    • Follow modern architectural practices to build high quality, secure web applications
    • Leverage AWS cloud native services as applicable components of overall web application architecture (SQS, SNS, S3, ASM/SSM)
    • Write automated unit, integration, and deployment tests
    • Develop software defined infrastructure
    • Design application and persistence (NoSQL) data models
    • Automate deployments in coordination with Platform and DevOps engineers
  • Identify opportunities to automate away repetitive tasks
  • Lead technical design and code reviews to drive projects towards the best results
  • Promote, implement, and evolve development best practices
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Expertise developing web applications built using React, Typescript, and nodejs
  • Individual contributor experience developing REST, gRPC, and/or WebSocket APIs
  • Experience building and deploying secure containerized web applications using Docker, Jenkins or equivalent CICD platform, targeting AWS EKS, ECS or other cloud-based services
  • Demonstrated significant leadership experience as a project lead or similar role in agile environment
  • Has partnered with business stakeholders to drive technology strategy
  • Technical software development and web application architecture experience as an individual contributor, ideally with exposure to an IaC software tool such Terraform
  • Project management experience on custom software development engagements
  • A self-starting, entrepreneurial attitude with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
  • Strong object-oriented programming experience in any language
  • An ability to drive your projects from inception to completion
  • Possesses a desire to teach, coach, and mentor others while also making significant individual contributions
  • Ensures that the team produces high quality code, facilitates communication and feedback
