The Consultant will be part of client-facing project teams and initiatives that support growing the Strategy & Planning business and the success of Black & Veatch Management Consulting, LLC (BVMC). By providing client value, this professional plays a key role to support the processes to develop and deliver strategic solutions, acquire new clients and engagements, and grow existing client relationships to ensure considerable business growth. Deliver innovative strategy solutions addressing complex problems and market trends related to the decarbonization of the energy industry targeting key stakeholders including utilities, commercial and industrial customers, developers. Support strategic engagements with new and existing clients working independently as well as with the broader teams in the areas of decarbonization, distributed energy resources with an emphasis on data, analytics, modeling, and research as required by specific client assignments. Support assigned accounts across industry segments (electric, gas, and water utilities, industrials, etc.), reflecting the Management Consulting offerings and strategic value propositions. Collaborate with Black & Veatch Management Consulting’s Project Managers and Managing Director to provide comprehensive solutions across key energy market sectors.Key ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate must have a strong desire to execute the group’s business vision – which is recognized as forward-looking industry leaders by providing our clients with the strategy, concepts and insights, analytical techniques, implementation capabilities, and thought leadership to understand, address, and operate successfully within critical infrastructure solutions in the energy industry and adjacent sectors. Key responsibilities include: Grow the Strategy & Planning business area by delivering strategic solutions to satisfy clients’ needs. Deliver world-class strategy solutions across the industries served by Black & Veatch with a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach that integrates strategic, financial advisory services for key stakeholders, private and investor-owned utility companies, commercial and industrial customers, wholesale operators, generators, municipalities, government agencies, and technology solution providers. Support the development and implementation of a well-conceived business plan to grow the level of business and client base for the Strategy & Planning business area. Be responsible for all aspects of assigned engagements including conducting quality assurance reviews on their own and others' work. The individual will also direct the development of processes and techniques that improve the operation of the firm and develop marketable solutions. Closely interact with members of Black & Veatch’s solution teams. Be an active participant in industry groups and have a well-established network with executives within the energy industry.#LI-AK1Management ResponsibilitiesIndividual ContributorPreferred Qualifications MBA or advanced degree in policy, economics, or related relevant field 7+ years of experience in the energy industry Understanding of financial metrics including profitability, revenue, overhead costs, and project finance Proven experience facilitating collaboration among cross-functional, highly technical teams Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and launch new market new solutions, products, or services Demonstrated ability to translate complex findings into executable strategic insights and recommendations for both executive and mid-management stakeholders Highly developed organizational and management skills Cognitive flexibility, intellectual curiosity Drive to develop business insights & new/creative ways of solving challenges Proven experience developing business strategies in energy or adjacent sectors Experience & perspectives in multiple facets of energy markets (wholesale, retail, financial, technologies, policy) Desire to work in face-paced, start-up like environment where deliverables & tasks may frequently change 7+ years in a business/consulting environment with experience that includes:Strong knowledge and understanding of the energy industry; knowledge of industry business drivers and transformation drivers and impactsDeep understanding of current policy and mega trends as the energy ecosystem and markets evolve and become increasingly distributed Excellent communication/ presentation skills (written, verbal); ability to develop and maintain key relationships Ability to travel up to 50%Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree or relevant work experience. 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
