The successful candidate will be dedicated and motivated, has creative thinking skills and be a driver of her/his research. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a group of experts on computational genomics to develop novel genomic assays, improve algorithms, and develop software tools. We are developing various deep neural network approaches to handle unique challenges in long-read sequencing data, to facilitate novel genetic discoveries and accelerate the implementation of precision medicine.Job ResponsibilitiesAssists faculty in the conduct of research of significant value in the basic and/or translational science areaPlans, conducts research projects within the federal, institutional regulations and policiesCollaborates with researchers, external agencies and institutions to develop cooperative research initiativesTrains technical staff, students in lab proceduresReviews manuscripts for peer-reviewed journalsAssists with the submission of grant applications, contracts and research projects fundingParticipates in free discussion, research progress, and overall moraleResponsible for appropriate use of research fundsMay supervise studentsRequired Education and ExperienceRequired Education: Bachelor's degreeRequired Experience: One (1) year of scientifically relevant experiencePreferred Education, Experience & Cert/LicPreferred Experience:Terminal degree (MD, PhD, DVM) with one (1) year Post-Doctoral fellowship experience ORMaster's degree, three (3) or more years of scientifically relevant experience ORBachelor's degree, seven (7) or more years of scientifically relevant experienceAdditional Technical RequirementsTo carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. Additionally, all workforce members based in or regularly scheduled to work at any New Jersey location are mandated to be both vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19, with booster timing consistent with applicable guidelines. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates. CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemption consideration for CHOP vaccine requirements for valid religious and medical reasons. Please note start dates may be delayed until candidates are fully immunized or valid exemption requests are reviewed.
