The candidate should also be familiar with working with animal models, particularly mouse models. The candidate will also have significant interactions with junior research fellows and students and thus should enjoy teaching molecular techniques and experimental design to postgraduate, MD, PhD, and MD/PhD students.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms lab tests which require the analysis of results and interpretation of methodsPerforms research procedures on experimental samples as agreed with PIPlans and develops specific research protocols and proceduresDevelops & troubleshooting new techniques and ideasComposes methods and sets-up protocols accurately under the direction of the program director or senior scientist, modifies methods and protocols when requiredFormulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes & reports the dataPresents & discusses work at weekly lab meetingsPrepares laboratory reagents and monitors and maintains inventoryPerforms calculations and maintains appropriate log books and lab notebooksMaintains laboratory equipment, safety procedures and compliance recordsResearches journal, white papers and other scientific publications for pertinent informationPrepares data for publication or presentation at national/international symposiaMay be called upon to present at national symposiaSupervises junior members of laboratory.Required Education and ExperienceRequired Education: Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of scientifically relevant experience or Master's degree with 1+ years of scientifically relevant experienceAdditional Technical RequirementsProficient in various research and/or analytical techniquesAll CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its patients, family members, visitors and employees.
