Location: Madison Avenue, NY, NY Data Engineer will have 5 years of experience

The firm manages capital for institutional investors in a highly diversified portfolio of investment strategies, asset classes and geographies directed by established hedge funds and individual portfolio managers.looking for a Data Engineer to scale our data infrastructure inclusive of data pipelines, data warehousing, and business intelligence tools. You will engage in the full development life cycle of an inhouse data warehouse and the integration of business intelligence tools to enable more effective strategic, tactical, and operational insights from our investment and risk data. Firm is a cloud first engineering organization with all our infrastructure in Azure leveraging Data Factory, SQL, Synapse, Blob, and other PaaS solutions.You will be interacting with many business teams including marketing, research, finance, and operations to scale our data infrastructure, build reporting solutions, and democratize data access. This role encompasses end-to-end services that will often require the individual to work across the full-stack of front-end, middleware, and backend systems. An ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with in-depth knowledge of dimensional and relational data modeling, data pipelines and BI tools.

Areas of Responsibility:
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to determine requirements and implement solutions for data analysis, reporting, and integration projects across portfolio management, fund accounting, treasury and risk systems.
  • Develop data pipelines to move data across an array of platforms including a Data Warehouse and asset management systems.
  • Assist stakeholders with data analysis, source new datasets, and build scalable and performant logical/physical data models.
  • Attain functional subject matter expertise across various business process.
  • Partner with stake holders to build reporting solutions for answering business questions across the enterprise.

Skills and Experience Required:
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in a financial services firm handling large, complex data sources.
  • Experience building/operating highly available and scalable data pipelines to extract, load, and transform large data sets. (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL/Synapse, SnowFlake)
  • Demonstrated strength in data modeling, data warehousing concepts, as well as data analysis, reporting and visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, Python)
  • Strong SQL and Python development skills along with software engineering best practices including agile methodologies, DevOps, GIT, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building solutions on the Cloud: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Data domain knowledge of Security Master, Reference Master, IBOR/ABOR, and Portfolio Management is a big plus.
  • Interview process, there would be two, 30-minute Zoom calls with the CTO and Head of Data to review discuss the role and get a feel for personality. Next round would be a more technical discussion to go over skillset and experience; then we would have the candidate come into the office to do a written test.
