The Natural Sciences Division at the University of Alaska Anchorage offers a broad-based selection of courses and programs for students who wish to pursue a career in the above fields or who need to increase their knowledge in these areas.Duties:100%The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more courses in a manner consistent with the course content guide. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught.EssentialThis is a pooled position and applicants will be reviewed on an as needed basis. Acceptance into the pool does not constitute an offer of employment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester. Hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment. Applicants will be evaluated on the suitability of their academic preparations, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students in a manner consistent with the specific course content guidelines for the following departments:BiologyChemistryGeologyPhysics / AstronomyTypical Education or Training:The successful candidate will have at least a BA/ BS in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics / Astronomy or closely related field.Preferred:A MA/MS in Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics/Astronomy or a related fieldExperience teaching college-level Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics/AstronomySuccessful applicants must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.
