SURG TECH II, SURGERY

Position Description

The operating room technician is responsible for setting up the operating room for each surgery. This is accomplished by checking and providing needed supplies and necessary equipment depending on the type of surgery that will be performed. This is an OSHA Category I. May perform other duties as assigned.Job Specifications

[REQUIRED] High school graduate or equivalent, BLS Certification, Valid Board Certified AST (Association of Surgical Technologist) and/or NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or be able to obtain certification within six months of hire, or a valid CA LVN license. Knowledge of theory/techniques/practices of surgical intervention, as they relate to the "scrub" role. Able to scrub on a variety of specialty cases. Able to participate in an on-call schedule. Knowledge of AORN standards/practices for perioperative nursing.
